Blog Traffic Getting with RSS
RSS stands for “Real Simple Syndication”, and it is simple – because it’s already totally built in to your blog, so all you need to do is USE IT!
In this Episode (#5) of Blog Traffic Getting With Thomas Bartke I show you my “Top 5″ most powerful ways to use RSS to get an avalanche of traffic to my blogs.
Here is the list if you want to follow along:
- Display the RSS icon prominently to engage your visitors to subscribe
- Pinging Your Blog Feed With RSS
- Submit Your Blog Feed to RSS Aggregators
- Post Your RSS Feeds on Web 2.0 Properties
- Compounding RSS Feeds
RSS can be a bit technical, but it’s really not complicated, and extremely powerful for Google rankings and residual traffic. Please leave a comment and let me know what else you need to know about RSS and other blog traffic getting methods.

The main disadvantage to the web site owner is that they trade off traffic for content, as their visitors need to visit the publishers web site to read the complete article.
But, this is a minor disadvantage considering all the benefits that RSS offers the web site owner.

Hey Syed:
Thanks for your comment! Can you elaborate on that? I don’t quite get what you mean.
Cheers,

Dave Whittle´s last blog ..How To Activate RSS On Your Website
Hi Thomas,
I’m interested to find out more about RSS.
In your video, you say that the RSS logo should be displayed somewhere prominent.
My wordpress theme came with a tiny RSS logo which is placed in the banner at the top.
Please could you give some practical advice on how I could add a nice looking RSS feed logo to my sidebar.
Thanks
John

Hi Thomas,
More great content. I’m not sure what a squidoo lens is so maybe you could do a video explaining what it is, how you set it up and how you use it.
Other video suggestions I have include:
1. More information on web 2.0 properties
2. Keyword searches and how to go about searching and analysing the results to get the best keywords in your posts.

Can you put a perspective on the type of % traffic would increase by? – as i see it you have to get the readers in the first place, so RSS is helping you with you search engine rankings.
Is that right?
Peter Davies´s last blog ..Peter Davies In 25 Things You Should Or Maybe I Should Not Know About Me!
Hi Peter:
Yes, the point that I was trying to make is that the syndication aspect of RSS is way more important and powerful than the subscription aspect.
Because placing the RSS feed of your blog on web 2.0 properties and other web sites (didn’t mention that in the video…) will greatly enhance your Google ranking – even for any NEW posts that you put on your blog.
% of traffic totally depends on the search volume of the keyword that you optimize the web 2.0 properties for. If you do it persistently for different keywords that have good search volume but not too much competition the cumulative effect can be huge. (That’s how Jeff Johnson, Howie Schwartz and just about every other blog/SEO guru earns their keep…)
Cheers,
Thomas
Some sites generate a small amount of income from affiliate programs, but others will make a full time living or even make staggering amounts of money, It all depends on the amount of visitors you can generate , what affiliate programs you select and how you’re promoting them on your website.
