Hi Tom,
Sorry I haven’t visited your site sooner because you have a lot to offer here.
First off, I really like this theme. It’s kind of like the ads float on the page. Very Nice!
I also found your Alexa video very informative. I just checked mine and I have a llllloooooonnnnnngggg way to go! (4.3M)
Looks like my brain cells want a pay raise. :>).
I know I’ve seen the software that does those ads at the bottom of the screen, but I can’t remember what it was. Can you tell me what you use?
Best Regards,

Hey Byron:
The funny thing about Alexa is that I think you’re actually better off with a brand new domain, because you don’t have a 3-months “history” of low ranking, so if you start out right you can get higher ranking pretty quickly.
But even with a domain that’s older and does have a low (meaning high numbers) 3 months ranking, you can get it up quickly with persistently good content and activity.
You can get the footer ads at here < == click!. They can be a bit tricky to get going, but the support is very helpful if you ask for help!
Cheers,
Thomas
Hi Thomas.
This video is really interesting. That´s another good reason to publish good quality content. We have to encourage our readers to participate in our blogs as much as possible.
Thanks for the tip.

Hey Thomas,
Thanks for sharing your insight and examples on Alexa. Andrew Vaughn’s comment to a ping post stated his Alexa ranking came down after adding a ping plug-in (pingomatic) that pings after each post to his blog. Greats tips: quality content, participation and ping plug-in.

Hi Thomas,
Interesting video. I agree with what you said. I also agree absolutely with your blog comment above:
The effect that a history has is to pull the new results back through averaging. I have had to put up with this coz my website (which my blog is attached to) had been sitting at 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 for years. I never really paid attention to improving it. But then…
… these young blokes came along and started showing sub 500K Alexa rankings within 3 months. Well, that just irritated me so I made a concerted effort to pull my Alexa ranking down. The first major hurdle was getting under 1,000,000 but I did it through massive content. Next came 750,000 and then I slipped fairly rapidly under 500,000. I have it all recorded. The 250,000 barrier fell next and then I made the push to get under 200,000. This morning I did it – 199,349. But even that no longer satisfies me.
I know… it’s childish. But I’m more intrigued than wanting to beat others (sort of – LOL!). I just want to be the best that I can be. Or, more appropriately, I want an authrity blog – something that other people look at and go “Whoa! WHAT is this?!”
I agree that interactivity is one of the keys but there is also something else and I’m on the hunt for it coz there are several sites that should not be under-ranking mine. It doesn’t make sense. I alluded to it in the MWA2.0 forum. When I can nut that out then watch what will happen coz my blog has a lot of ability in it for me to manipulate certain settings.
I don’t wanna do this by trial and error. I want to research it first and then make a targetted attack on it.
LOL about talking miltaristically there but that is how I’m thinking about this.
Anyway, I may have to put it on hold for a little while coz I have so many other things I need to do. But, I’m watching and if I find what I need I’ll have a crack at it.

Hi Tom
I see this post is little old now, but is very relevant for me right now.
My goal is to get an Alexa Rank less than 200.000 by May 31, 2010. So I found your video very useful.
Thanks for that
